Entrepreneur, Founder of Markafoni

Sina Afra is a serial entrepreneur and early-stage investor with over two decades of experience building, scaling, and exiting technology-driven companies.

He is best known as the founder of Markafoni, one of Turkey’s first large-scale digital commerce companies and a defining success of the country’s early internet economy. In 2011, Naspers Group acquired a majority stake in Markafoni in one of the landmark transactions of the Turkish internet sector.

Over the course of his career, Sina has founded more than 20 companies, completed 12 exits, and angel-invested in over 60 early-stage startups across Europe, Africa, and the United States.

He is a Founding Partner at Founder One, an impact venture capital fund, and the Founder and Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Foundation (Girişimcilik Vakfı), which focuses on developing entrepreneurial talent and strengthening the long-term infrastructure of the startup ecosystem in Turkey.

Earlier in his career, Sina worked at KPMG and held leadership roles at eBay, where he gained first-hand experience in operating and scaling global internet platforms.

His work has been recognized with more than 20 international awards and honors, including being named Internet Entrepreneur of the Year, Business Angel of the Year, and Forbes’ Brightest Minds Alive in Turkey, with features in Wired and Forbes.

Sina holds a degree from the University of Münster and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School. He speaks five languages and is actively engaged in the European and Turkish technology and venture ecosystems.
